Over 20-years ago, I started my career as a teacher. After teaching for ten years, I crossed over to "the dark-side" and became an Administrator (Dean, Director, Assistant Principal and Principal) now for 14 years. As a building administrator, I could never pay my teachers for all the times they went above-and-beyond and deserved extra pay; but I could cook for them.
And that's how it all started. I had a team of teachers doing extra so I made them dinner. I was surprised they liked it so much and started telling other teachers. Soon, I was never short on volunteers as they knew I'd cook them dinner. Never could I imagine the joy I got from cooking good food for good people.
