It all commenced with a pledge, evolving into a grand vision. Gaetano Gravino, a hairstylist, initially sought part-time employment at a doughboy shack in Oakland Beach. What began as a mere side job blossomed into an opportunity that resonated with his entrepreneurial drive – a trait inherited by his spouse and children: Sally, MaryAnn, David, and Guy. When the prospect arose to lease the establishment, Gaetano and Sally seized it. Thus, in 1989, Iggy’s Doughboy and Chowder House came into being – a name inspired by a moniker bestowed upon Gaetano by his son, David. The star of the menu was the red chowder – a closely guarded family recipe crafted by Sally herself.

The food was delicious! The prices especially for seafood was fairly priced, though they had other options as well. Very clean and staff was well groomed and friendly! They even had a fire going on a chilly spring day. Was my first time there and I would highly recommend! Parking: They offer several spots on the street as well as have a parking lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Great ramp

I always love coming here. It had been quite a while since I was living in Florida for a bit, but so happy I came. It always just tastes like home. And everyone who they hire over many years of me going there has always been super friendly and gives great service. Parking: Not sure if there's a lot, I think there may be. I personally just always park on the road, usually spots near the front including handicap spots. Kid-friendliness: Super kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp and outdoor seating. Some of the indoor seating may be difficult to navigate for wheelchair user in their busy times though.

Can't remember how I found this place so holy cow I'm so glad I did! Very cute shack near the water. My boyfriend got their Lobster roll, which he found to be fantastic. He was very thrilled about how much lobster he got for the price (6 ounces for about $24. Included fries, chowder and coleslaw). I got the Iggy burger which was absolutely delicious.
Definitely recommend both. And their doughboys were INCREDIBLE. They're bigger than you think, so 3 is perfect for two people. We will absolutely be coming back when we are in RI again

I used to live in this neighborhood (Oakland Beach) and would always see the line out the door daily, when in season. Iggy's is definitely a RI classic; growing up, everybody talked about Iggy's in the summer. On our last visit in Autumn, we had a lovely experience. I haven't seen the updated outdoor area since moving out of state. They had picnic tables and this area was spacious and perfect for a picnic.
There's a boardwalk, playground, and a small beach nearby, for when you're done eating and want to burn some calories. We ordered at the outdoor counter. Thankfully there was no line due to it being a weekday, early in the day, and not being summer or it would've been a different scene. The food came out fast, hot, and it was delicious. I had to get their clam cakes, clam chowder, and Del's lemonade (another RI classic). Dip the clam cake in the chowder and take in the nostalgic RI summer taste. Overall, an iconic spot that will for sure be part of the RI's past and future.

Stopped in for mom's birthday lunch. Had Hannah, (the Hannah that's been there for a while, not the new one that started this week) and she was amazing. Great personality and she got our food order correct. She kept mom stocked with her favorite bread which is still warm when served. It was the perfect lunch. Huge, thank you to Hannah for making my mom feel so special.

Such a cozy place in the cold season with the fireplace! I would love to come back in the summer and experience the busy season, seems like such a fun place. The food what absolutely delicious and with the price! Very close to the ocean as well, would be a nice lunch walk th the summer. Wheelchair accessibility: *I personally do not use a wheelchair* To the right of the building was a very beautifully build brand new wheel chair ramp that looked very accessible.

Such a guilty pleasure and they nail every menu item, hot, tasty, perfectly cooked. Other seafood "shacks " (btw, Narragansett location is no shack) can't compare and should take lessons from Iggy's on how to deliver great, hot, fried seafood fast. Take note, both the cake and chowder have considerable amount of clams. Someday I'll try the doughboys

The cashier was friendly and welcoming. The lobster roll is seasoned perfectly, buttery, and incredibly delicious with generous meat portions. The toasted bun adds a delightful crunch. The perfectly seasoned calamari is also generous in portion. While the lobster bisque lacked meat and flavor, the clam chowder was creamy and delightful. Surprisingly, the snail salad with vinaigrette dressing was tasty.
The raspberry lime homemade soda leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. And, of course, the doughboys are a must-definitely gotta grab a dozen to go. Excited for their patio when it warms up!

After a week long road trip we stopped at Iggy's after deciding that we had time for one stop before having to make our flight home and we'd read that you couldn't leave RI without trying a stuffie (stuffed quahog). This place had the best reviews for one. It was definitely worth the stop and risking our flight. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was delicious, the stuffie being the best. While ordering we also learned that there are 3 versions of clam chowder in the NE region and that clear is the RI version.

I have been to this place many times before. One of the best Rhode Island's must eat at spot. Usually the line is out to the street but went there at the end of the season on week day their clam cakes and white chowder is one of the best if not the best in RI. Nice menu, seafood options and other items all reasonably priced. Close by the beach, we can't ask for more a happy customer here Parking: There's a small parking lot behind the building but there's also plenty of street parking.

2 ways to order here - there's a counter with all of the staple menu items where you can order & then find somewhere to sit, and an indoor restaurant with a larger menu. We ordered at the counter and found there were plenty of options. Clam roll and fish sandwich were both delicious: very crispy and flavorful. The house root beer was also great. The adjoining beach area is very nice as well

Super busy and very popular. it's great for a pit stop if you're looking for fried treats. The cost is terrifying unless you ready yourself. the lobster bisque at nearly 30 bucks a quarter, which was priced very high, but it is so worth it I've never had it's equal yet and placed at the top of best I've ever had. The fritters "clam cakes, " which drew us there, were good but slightly sandy.
I don't mind some grit, but after dropping almost a Bennie, I'd like my food without the off-putting crunches. P.s. they only have ketchup out. You need to ask for sauces like tartar which is Ken's. on the whole I'd go again but seriously bring lots of money. Wheelchair accessibility: As a disabled person who walks with a cane, the real hero was the ramp.

Perfect way to end a beach day or start one! Went with my family (8 people) on a Wednesday night around 6 pm. The surrounding area is clean and accessible, off of a main road with plenty of parking. Seating options include outdoor to the left of the restaurant, inside, or a short walk past a rental property to a more private area surrounded by bushes.
The bathrooms are inside and double stall. There was a long line, but it moves fairly quickly, and there's plenty of space to step aside and wait for your number to be called. I highly recommend the classic New England clam chowder and clam cakes, which you can get as a combo for around $8 (includes a cup of chowder and 3 clam cakes). The clam cakes are slightly bigger than a golf ball, and the chowder does not contain bacon.
I also recommend the dough boys (your choice of cinnamon, granulated or powdered sugar or plain), which are softball sized and sold by 3, 6, or 12. If those Rhode Island classics aren't your first choice, there are other options, which include sandwiches, lobster rolls, or fish and chips! Kid-friendliness: This is a family-friendly establishment, just be cautious of children wandering into the main road. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to use to access the order and pick up windows as well as the indoor seating. There are also accessible stalls in the restrooms.

We recently dropped by Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House, and overall, we had a pretty good experience. We decided to go for the classic combo of Spicy Chicken Wings and French Fries, and we were pleasantly surprised. Now, let's talk about the ambiance. The place wasn't air-conditioned, and they had these old 19th-century fans hanging from the ceiling.
It did get a bit warm in there, especially on a hot day, but we appreciated the effort to keep it cool with those fans. The seating area was okay, nothing too fancy. It seemed like they could use some sprucing up to make it more inviting, but hey, we were there for the food, not the decor. On the bright side, the bathroom was clean, and that's always a plus in our book. Okay, let's get to the star of the show - the food!
The Spicy Chicken Wings were on point. They had that perfect amount of spice and flavor that left us wanting more. And those French Fries! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, just the way we like 'em. One thing we loved about Iggy's is that it's an excellent spot for a quick bite. You can grab your food and be on your way to the next sightseeing adventure in no time.
All in all, if you're looking for a fancy, air-conditioned restaurant, this might not be the place for you. But if you want some tasty eats in a laid-back atmosphere and you're willing to overlook the not-so-fancy setup, give Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder House a shot. The food makes it all worthwhile, and it's a convenient stop when you're out and about exploring the town. Kid-friendliness: They have special kid friendly menue

1st stop into RI for lunch. We pulled up and we thought that the Iggy's attached to the ice cream shop had a wait so we went next door to the other location of Iggy's for the 1st time ever. We were seated at the high top by the bar. Our server was a service bartender as well. She definitely was amazing, on top of her game and constantly checking on us even with how busy she was with the servers.
We had a few appetizers and dinner. The streamers were incredible, we laughed as we should have just ordered 5 pounds and called it a day! My husband "loves" the red chowder, something he always craves with clam cakes the clam cakes were totally amazing! I ordered the baked scrod, a very large piece of scrod and first time ever having it baked whereas usually I ordered it broiled, it was very flavorful.
Your French Fries, I know they're only fries but really, really yummy! My husband's other local gem is officially closed Sunday through Tuesday so he tried your fried cod and said "It was extremely close in taste and in flavor", double win for next time! We will probably be back tomorrow before we leave! We need those "steamahs". Upon walking the beach, we realized the line at Iggy's was shorter than we assumed but really happy with coming to this other location for a new experience! Kudos to the entire staff for doing a great job, smiling and showing such a great team effort for making this business run successfully!

Their Clam Cakes are basically hush puppies but the batter they use has a little sweetness to it.really good stuff! Make sure to try the Quahog! It's a breaded clam mix served in a Quahog shell. Our local seafood restaurants are closed for the season but we were in the mood for cakes and chowder. Haven't been here since 2019 so decided to go for the ride. Ordered the white chowder which was thick and chunky with lots of clams and potatoes. Clam cakes are awesome, light and fluffy with real clams inside. I got the stuffy which was just okay. The texture was more like bread crumbs and lacking in spices. Next time we will try the red chowder and definitely get more clam cakes.

It's that time again. I came to this joint during my recent trip to the New England area. Since seafood is the thing I chose this place to suit. I got the white chowdah w/clam cake combo. The chowdah at this place was bomb duders. I'm a big fan of clam chowder and this place nailed it. Lots of pieces of clam and the potato was on point by not being overwhelming.
The clam cakes were soo good too. Great flavor and a doughy texture to boot. I dipped them in the chowdah which just made them even better. Out of the two joints I tried during my visit that had the cakes, I most definitely preferred these! Parking: Lots of parking lots. 3 total, I believe.

Iggy's Doughboys and Chowder House is an iconic staple here in Warwick, Rhode IIsland. They serve fresh seafood, chowder, doughboys and more! This place is super popular with the locals and tourists. The line was in the street when we arrived so if you're looking to get food quick I suggest ordering ahead of time over the phone or online. We did show up on a Saturday too so that might have had something to do with it.
Their food was good but nothing was over the top amazing. Service was counter service and was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was cute and nautical with awesome views in the back with their patio seating! I'm not sure if I would come back to Iggy's for the seafood but the chowder and doughboys were good, as they should be considering it's in their name haha.
My wife and I shared a Seafood Platter which included an all fried meal with white flakey fish (they don't say what kind of fish), whole clams, clam strips, scallops, and flat shrimp. The platter also came with 3 clam cakes, onion rings, fries and Cole slaw with your choice of a salad or chowder. We got a salad. We also orders 3 cinnamon sugar doughboys and a bowl of white chowder.
We were unaware that there were three types of chowder. There's, New England White, which is a cream based chowder. Manhattan Red, which is tomato based chowder. And lastly, clear Clam Chowder which is the "pure" chowder with no add ins. To start with the Seafood Platter, everything was good and had flavor however when we got our plate we went to a table and immediately sat down to eat and the breading was soggy with most things like the clams and scallops.
It didn't seem like it was fried fresh and given to us. I also don't like how we had to guess what the fried fish was. Having to guess what you're eating is always a turn off. We also had to ask for tartar sauce and cocktail sauce as it was not included with our platter. My favorite out of the platter was the fried scallops. Fried food places, PLEASE put your food in container with holes.
If there are no air vents, the moisture builds up in the box and creates soggy breading. This is especially concerning when you want to take your food home. The clam cakes were more like clam hush puppies and we wouldn't have ordered an extra 3 if we knew that it would come with the platter but there was no mention of it on the menu. The doughboys were good and looked like the doughboy mascot they have outside the restaurant.
The chowder was also good but seemed to be lacking in clams and is a bit thicker than some people like but it wasn't off putting to us. We also got their drinks that they make like their Raspberry Lime soda and Root Beer. My wife like the Raspberry Lime but it tasted like a Shirley Temple to me. The root beer was okay. Overall, for $50 for the both of us for lunch and what we got, I wasn't super impressed.
The atmosphere and service helped their food score but like I said in the beginning, stick to what their name says and what they're good at, just get the chowder and doughboys. Food - 3 Service - 5 Atmosphere - 5 Overall - 4 Follow me for more reviews across the America

A popular, near or far, year round experience! The food and the quality is authentic clam shack and seafood fare. There are a few non seafood options to cater to kids and non seafood fans. The prices are moderate with $$ out of 5. The view from inside eating or outside eating is equally serene and wonderful with beach views. This is a staple for my family and I when we are in Rhode Island! Highly recommended to all.

Stood by the gazebo to wait for our table. trying to get a drink tho was tough. they were busy and the booths are first come first serve out there. Waited a bit for our first drink. still fun. Food was good. Had the lobster bisque, it was delicious. First time ever having. We don't normally go for seafood restaurants or food. the baked clams were big, also very good. the bread and cinnamon butter was endless and really good. had a good night. The weather was perfect. Would definitely go again.
