If you live or work anywhere near the Syracuse University area, then chances are you've been to A La Mode Cafe & Catering. Dating all the way back to 1967, it was originally opened as a Carvel Ice Cream until owners Bishara & Claire Salloum changed the name to A La Mode. After 20 years in business, the business was sold and has since changed hands a few times with each owner bringing in their own touch.

Current owner Jeanne Catalfano first went into business with her father in 2003, opening The Deli Downtown in Cortland, NY. The store was closed down for a month to remodel with the help of her father, and reopened with an expanded menu and a full catering menu. A La Mode Cafe and Catering has become a staple in the community. If you glance around the walls, you'll notice paintings that once served as table tops and were painted by local artists at the Westcott Community Center.

On any given day you will see neighborhood baseball teams coming in for ice cream, SU students, and faculty stopping in for lunch.
