It all began in 1972 with Mr. Carlton Stafford and a small "hole in the wall" pizza shop by the name of Pizza Palace located on Hwy. 31 N.
They began serving spaghetti, lasagna, sandwiches and thin crust, heavily topped pizzas.
These pizzas would later become Carlton's signature pizza.
In 1996, it was moved to the Midtown Center behind the Honda Shop, where it grew and thrived in this location for over a decade.
Carlton's last and most recent move was in 2007 to its current location in the old landmark building which has housed several occupants, one being Dr. Stewart Veterinary Clinic.
